Netarhat school has been functioning since 1954.  Despite several upheavals from time to time, the school administration has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to maintaining academic excellence and producing graduates with exceptional calibre, as evidenced by having Netarhat alumni as successful leaders in various national sectors.

With the partition of Bihar in 2000, Netarhat fell under the state of Jharkhand state.  While Netarhat school received the utmost contribution and accordance similar to the past, a slight deterioration was observed in various organs of the school system including the school administration, and it affected the smooth functioning of the school.

The reasons and circumstances of deteriorating administration were also visible to many in the Jharkhand government, and thus, a decision was taken to convert Netarhat school from a government-run school to an autonomous body.  See below a chronological list of activities that took place and led to the existence of NVS.
